Stoke City 1 – 4 Manchester City – Manchester City emerged comfortable winners in Pep Guardiola’s first away Premier League match as they beat Stoke City 4-1.
Pep Guardiola once again benched England number one Joe Hart in favor of Willy Cabellero, and his decision seemed to be justified as Cabellero was only beaten from the penalty spot. Guardiola reportedly dropped Hart over his poor distribution, but this might be Caballero’s last game as City are finalizing a transfer for Barcelona stopper Claudio Bravo.
Sergio Aguero scored twice for the Citizens in the first half, and substitute and new signing Nolito scored his own brace in the second half as City cruised to an easy win. Bojan Krkic was Stoke’s only scorer on the night, scoring from the penalty spot.
Even after missing two penalties in City’s midweek clash against Steaua Bucaresti, Guardiola maintained the Aguero would still be the team’s penalty taker, and Aguero repaid his faith with a well dispatched penalty in the 25th minute to put City ahead.
